Automobiles Peugeot has revealed its latest model: the new Peugeot Traveller. Derived from Peugeot’s midsize Expert van, the new Peugeot Traveller will be first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 and will go on sale in Ireland next summer. Two versions of the Peugeot Traveller will be on offer; a flexible 7-seater MPV version, perfect for family motoring, and a luxury executive version for business shuttle use. The latest Peugeot model unveiling is the fruit of a joint Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota collaborative agreement.
The aim of the collaboration is for the three parties to offer a competitive product in the mid-size, light commercial vehicle, shuttle and family Combi segments, while benefitting from development and production cost optimisation. The new Peugeot Traveller, new Citroen Spacetourer and the new Toyota Proace will be produced at PSA Group’s plant at Sevelnord in Valenciennes, France. It was agreed at the start of the collaboration in 2012 that the companies would work together on its next generation vehicles in a co-operative programme that would last beyond 2020.
“We are delighted to present today these three new vehicles, the result of the co-operation with Toyota Motor Europe. This agreement has enabled us to develop a new and efficient vehicle platform, offering our customers around the world modern products which are particularly competitive in their segment,” said Patrice Lucas, PSA Group’s Head of Programme and Strategy.
Since 2013, the first Toyota Proace vehicles were based on the current generation Peugeot Expert and Citroën Dispatch vehicles. Toyota Motor Europe participated in the development and industrial investment costs for the new vehicles. The vehicles share all technical features, powertrains and equipment and propose a distinctive styling rooted in each of the brand’s design language.
Peugeot and the PSA Group sold 3 million vehicles worldwide in 2014. The second largest carmaker in Europe, PSA recorded sales and revenue of €54 billion in 2014. The Group confirms its position of European leader in terms of CO2 emissions, with an average of 110.3 grams of CO2/km in 2014. PSA has sales operations in 160 countries. It is also involved in financing activities (Banque PSA Finance) and automotive equipment (Faurecia).
