Peugeot has revealed its vision of tomorrow's driving environment with the unveiling of the latest generation Peugeot i-Cockpit®. Designed for an even more instinctive, safer driving experience, the new i-Cockpit is a preview of the interior of future Peugeot models. The second generation Peugeot i-Cockpit® invites both driver and passengers to step into an even more exciting and stimulating driving dimension.
In terms of chassis and road holding, the lion-Brand's expertise is irrefutable but In order to offer even more driving pleasure, Peugeot has for several years been rethinking the interior environment, in order to offer a superior automotive experience. The research led to a unique interior layout, known as the Peugeot i-Cockpit®, first introduced on 208 models in 2012. It combines a compact steering wheel, a head-up instrument panel and a large touchscreen to result in an incredibly streamlined, modern instrument panel with a near-lack of buttons.
The compact steering wheel offers more agile manoeuvrability and improved driving pleasure. With arms no longer needing to be so open and wide to grasp the steering wheel, the breadth of movement during manoeuvres is reduced, thus making the driver more responsive and agile, in a more relaxed driving position. The head-up instrument panel displays all relevant information in front of the driver. The driver does not need to look away from the road and can fully concentrate on driving. This ergonomic position is made possible thanks to the compact proportions of the steering wheel and has been designed to increase driver comfort and safety, even reducing tiredness. A large touchscreen intuitively displays all comfort controls (radio, air conditioning, etc.) and offers intuitive control of all the vehicle's information and equipment.
Now, the new Peugeot i-Cockpit® adopts an even more compact, redesigned steering wheel, freeing up more of the driver’s field of vision and leg space. The new head-up instrumentation display is a 12.3’’ high-resolution digital screen with futuristic graphics. It is fully customisable and displays everything the driver needs, all within the field of vision. A new large 8’’ touchscreen tablet is set against the middle of the instrument panel and comes with interactive technology for increased responsiveness and practicality. The features are further complemented by a new centre console, complete with a set of elegant chrome toggle switches and a very modern, highly responsive gear lever.
The new Peugeot i-Cockpit® concept is compatible with the best technologies currently available on the market including 3D navigation, voice recognition, real-time traffic information, Apple CarPlayTM, Mirrorlink® and driver aid technologies.
Everything in this incredibly accomplished interior flatters the senses, exudes quality and introduces innovation. Indeed, the onboard ambient mood can be changed at the simple press of a button. Two atmospheres are offered as standard to the occupants: "Boost", for dynamic driving, and "Relax", for a calmer driving experience. The intensity of cabin lighting adjustment, various music settings, a fragrance diffuser, driver seat massage-function and high-quality materials work together to create a feast for the senses.
In the past four years, the unique Peugeot i-Cockpit® signature has been rolled out on the Brand's three best-selling models, which all feature in the European top three of their respective segments in 2016, including the 208, refreshed in 2015, the 2008, which will see a facelift in 2016 and the 308, the Brand's current best-seller. Since 2012, over 2.2 million customers have enjoyed the Peugeot i-Cockpit® and during development, a study was conducted to review the customer experience. All client surveys conducted in Europe and China agree: driving in a Peugeot i-Cockpit® vehicle is a rewarding and stimulating experience. It is now a major distinctive feature of Peugeot's recent creations.
The new Peugeot i-Cockpit® goes further in all fields. More quality in its presentation, more technology in its design, better connected, more intuitive, and taking excitement and personalisation even further, it is the embodiment of tomorrow’s Peugeot interior.
